Yoni comes from the Sanskrit word for vagina but the word is used in such a way that venerates the sacred power of the female sexual organs.
Yoni eggs are a polished pure crystal egg with a hole drilled through the small end for a cord to help with removal, although they can also be simply pushed out from a squatting position, if you don’t wish to use the string. Mine come with a simple waxed cotton cord. Wash them throughly before and after use in warm mild soapy water with a little tea tree oil if you have some to hand.
The weight of the egg means that you will tighten to hold it in place so it immediately acts to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. Start off slowly for a couple of minutes and build your muscle strength up gradually until you can hold it comfortably for extended periods of time. Advocates of this technique recommend then moving to two eggs laced together on one cord, with one egg held internally with the second dangling outside to further improve your clench and grip.
Some woman like to meditate with the egg inside them to better centre and focus on the crystal properties. There are also advocates of Yoni Yoga where yoga postures are strengthened with the addition of the internal contractions required to hold the yoni egg in place.
The principal benefits of the strengthened muscles are an increase in sexual pleasure, a better chance of reaching a vaginal orgasm and a reduction in bladder leaks. In addition, a yoni egg may help with preparing for and healing after a vaginal birth. They can also simply be used for fun and pleasure. Enjoy.
